The Eastern Road is a location in NieR RepliCant and NieR Gestalt. The small passage east of the Village leads to the Lost Shrine up north, and the Desert straight ahead.

Description[]

The eastern road is first accessed by Nier after he finds out that Yonah had gone to the Lost Shrine in search of a Lunar Tear. The entrance to the shrine is blocked by rubble after he retrieves both her and Grimoire Weiss from the top, leaving the path to the Desert as the road's only remarkable feature.

Goats and lizards inhabit the passage, as well as the odd wild boar. Rare fish can be caught in the pond provided the right bait is used for the job. As with the goats in the Northern Plains, the ones in the Eastern Road are just as hostile, but are far fewer in number.

Points of Interest[]

East Path 1
The path going left leads to the Lost Shrine's front entrance, and is the only time it is used in the story.

East Path 2
The Eastern Road provides the only way to the Desert until the ferry becomes available for use during the game's second half.

East Boar
The road houses the other wild boar, with the first one found in the Northern Plains. Passive until attacked.

East Goat
Up to five goats may be encountered here, and will attack the player when approached. Useful for farming the hides required for The Damaged Map, as the area is free of Shades and provides less ground to cover.

Twins Objective 2
The road is another source of lizard tails, a required material for The Ballad of the Twins.

Notes[]

  • Entering the Desert with Weiss early in the game prompts him to remark: "This is madness! We've no business being in such a place!" The area is otherwise free to explore, but Facade will be unavailable for entry until Kainé joins the party.
  • The goats in the area will actively try to harm Nier while he fishes at the pond. While he won't take damage in that state, it might be worth it to get rid of them first if they prove to be too much of a distraction.
