The Trial of Sand is a location in NieR:Automata added in the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC. It is one of three arenas the player can use to test their skills and earn rewards, and alongside the others (Gambler's Colosseum and Underground Colosseum), is required to be partially beaten to progress the Mysterious Letter quest.
Location[]
The colosseum entrance can be located a distance away from the Desert Zone: Center Transporter and requires the player to have started the quest Mysterious Letter, which can only be obtained by purchasing and downloading the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC content.
Services[]
All trials can be accessed by talking to the Masked Receptionist. Upon first visit, this starts the Trial of Sand quest. |

Notes[]
- The machine lifeform guarding the entrance will blow itself up upon being asked about the arena if the player does not have the DLC installed, dropping basic resources. This doesn't happen in "Nier:Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition" due to the Nintendo Switch version already having the DLC in the game by default.
- The Masked Receptionist talks about various rules which must be kept in accordance with, and after completing each subsequent trial delves into the history of the arena and mentions a fallen kingdom and past civilization. This is a reference to what happened to Facade and it's people after the King of Facade was killed by Goose at the end of the first game.
Trivia[]
- The arena is the same one used in the Debug mode, where players can freely test gear and combos.
