Sebastian is a minor character in NieR and its remake, NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139.... He is Emil's loyal butler, and spends most of his time in his manor looking after him.
Appearance and Personality[]
Sebastian looks, acts, and is dressed like a typical butler. He is tall with a short haircut, and is dressed in a grey coverall and white undergarments.
Sebastian is committed to serving Emil, doing everything in his power to care for him even with his affliction. He spends five years straight looking for a way to reverse Emil's petrification powers.
Story[]
When Nier and Grimoire Weiss find Sebastian in the depths of the manor at Emil's request, he makes robotic movements and sounds that lead them to discover he is actually an android.
There are multiple Sebastians present in Emil's Manor. Some of them seem broken, as they don't move anymore, and don't respond when Nier speaks to them. The main Sebastian is the only one that is still working.
Following Emil absorbing the powers of his sister Halua and his transformation, Sebastian is one of the few people not scared of Emil's new appearance.
Side Quests[]
During the quest A Tale of the Study, Sebastian asks Emil and his friends to help deal with a shade that entered the manor's library. However, the shade in question does not attack and is shown to be interested in reading before Nier kills it, the group later wondering if shades are more capable of rational thought than previously believed.
In the quest Research Project, Sebastian attempts to find a way to change Emil's body back to how it was before his transformation. After asking Nier for help getting documents from the secret research lab under the manor, they learn the address of one of the deceased researchers in Seafront. After learning that her descendants kept an encrypted letter meant as a message to Emil and bringing it back to Sebastian, Emil remembers that the woman acted as a mother to him and Halua hundreds of years before the present instead of treating them harshly like the other scientists. After learning this, Emil states he doesn't care about his appearance due to learning about his mother.
